When learning new vocab, the best way to get into your memory is to write out the word with your finger instead of a pencil. This way, you are literally feeling the word in your hand. I don't know the science behind why this helps, but my mom (who is a language teacher) told me that it is the best way to memorize things. So that you can see the word you are writing, you can write using a piece of paper and paint (by dipping your finger in the paint), by a big plate of something like flour or rice, or even just the dirt on the ground.
