Hi! I came across this sentence on Lingo Deer app:
田中さんは毎日公園を散歩しています。
Why was を used here? Don't we use で or に to show where an action takes place?

Dear Mariana,
Hello.
Sorry for late comment.
「で」と「に」のちがち。
「で」 has mainly 3 parts.
1.「で」 is after an action place.
ex.
公園で散歩します。at park
ジムで運動します。at gym
2.way, method, material
ex.
車で行きます。(way)
えんぴつで書きます。(method)
小麦粉(flour)で作ります。(material)
3.reason
ex.
It expresses the reason.
風邪(cold)で休みます。
「に」 has mainly 4 parts.
1.direction to move
ex.
学校に行きます。go "to" school
仕事に行きます。go "to" work
This "に" often combines with 行きます, 来ます, 帰ります.
Also can use "へ". But it will emphasize the direction.
Maybe I can say "に" is for arrival point.
2.time
To indicate(show) the time.
ex.
9時に行きます。at 9 am/pm
3.The place of continuous action
ex.
椅子(chair)にすわります。
家にいます。
When you sit on chair, you are on the chair. It means continuously sitting.
This "に" often combines with 座ります, 乗ります, 居ます.
4.indirect object
The indirect object(post positional particle) "に" ,direct object(post positional particle) "を".
ex.
私が友達にクッキーをあげた。I gave my friend cookie.
田中さんは毎日公園を散歩しています。
for this sentence.
公園を→"を" can modify verb and combines the word for moving, leaving, departure. Like climbing mountain, leaving home. This sentence soulds most naturally.
公園に→"に" often used for time, place, action. It has place(park). But the verb "散歩しています" is not suitable. If it was "散歩に行く", it would be okay.
公園で→This is okay as grammar. But this sentence will mean walking at park. Which means limited.
If I mistook, I'd be sorry.

を has to be used when an action that needs a route is in a sentence. For instance,
1. walking through the park (from the entrance to the exit)
公園(こうえん)を 散歩(さんぽ)します
2. crossing a road / bridge (from one end to another)
道路(どうろ)/橋(はし)を 渡(わた)ります
3. Birds fly in the sky
鳥(とり)は空(そら)を 飛(と)びます
Whereas で only describes the place where an action happens / has happened, it doesn’t include the nuance that your body moves from point A to point B.
1. I had lunch at school
学校(がっこう)で ひるごはんを食(た)べました。
2. I did my homework at the library.
図書館(としょかん)で 宿題(しゅくだい)をしました。

In this case, "を" and "で" are used to express "take a walk in the park".
"に" is used to indicate a destination, like "to". So "彼は公園に行きます" means "He goes to the park".
However, each particle has several uses, which depend on the context.

で does show where an action takes place. に does not, it shows where something is or at what time it takes place. In this case, を can also be used after the word 公園. In English we also might say something like, "I think I'll walk the lake today." (as in, walk around the perimeter).
Sometimes the best answer is, "because that's the way it is".
