The most amazing photos I have taken were not necessarily those of the most spectacular places I visited. Actually, the beauty of a wonderful landscape can be quite tricky to capture in a photograph and, to the contrary, the little (ugly) things in everyday life can look astonishingly good in a picture, provided that the colours, the shapes and the framing result in something aesthetic. Even without that, a simple black and white portrait can be extremely touching and moving. Having said that, I guess the most amazing photos I have taken were those of the monastery of Santa Catalina in Arequipa, Peru because of the amazing colours and beautiful shapes of its buildings, and also because of the serenity and peacefulness of its little alleys and cloisters.
