I am not sure about the statement that advantages in techonogy are always good. From my point of view, if technology supports communities and gives wellbeing (well-being in North America) to them, technological development would be good. On the other hand, if the advances in techonogy produce adictions, dependence or privacy violations, maybe those advances are not good and I could say that they (you used the plural earlier) can become a problem to society. In conclusion, the advantages in technological devices and networks could be good if they are designed to maintain the health, privacy and autonomy of people.
