I think China should be one of the most diversified countries in the world. There are 56 nationalities in China in terms of different culture and history root, and everyone has their own local dialect. Han is the majority group, which accounts for 92% out of total population. So you will probably meet Han people if you go to most of the cities in China. The minority groups mostly live in the west and southwest of China, they will have their own festivals, costume, food habits, and even believes. The language also differs based on different areas people are living, so there is no exact number of how many languages are spoken. So it is so common that when you go to another city and you can't understand their language. I think being culture diversified and being international is happening at the same time. So every group is not isolated, everyone can be connected through speaking Mandarin and the respect for each other's cultures.

How time flies! The Paris Olympic is around the corner. Every four years, this greatest sport event will be held in different country from different continents. Athletes all around the world have been practicing for a long time and they will compete in many races. We have witnessed many great moments during the past Olympics. The fastest man could run 100 meters in 9.58 seconds. Liuxiang represented the Asians won the 110 meters hurdle that changed the stereotype in westerners' mind. This is a fair stage for all the athletes without prejudice and discrimination. The only thing they should do it to be faster and stronger. So, I think that the best Olympic moment was not in the history, It will be in the future. 25 days later, we will witness some new records. We can even image that 9.58 is not the limit for human beings in 100 meters race.

🇬🇧🇺🇸🇨🇦🇦🇺 English Diary, 3rd of July 2024 Movie Review Three weeks ago, I settled into my new workplace and found myself in a whole different atmosphere after a year and half in Vietnam. Laying on the bed of my new home, I watched this movie put aside for months. It had been three years or so since I knew of its existence. But I knew the manga it was based upon from my university years. Back then, it was perhaps the first I appreciated from its author, Inio Asano, and I was blown away by the majesty of both its graphics and story. However I have to say, years have gone by and I had somehow forgotten the impression of it. Still, after discovering the eponymous song of the Asian Kung Fu Generation 3 years ago I knew I had to watch it someday. Before writing a review, I looked at other people’s opinions on various websites and found something was lacking for most critics. Empathy, perhaps. The tediousness of the film was often mentioned in them, as well as the lesser impact of the film compared to the original manga. However, a highly personal context played its part when I watched this film. I had just left a whole previous life, bittersweet memories of people and a whole routine in Hanoi, Vietnam. Many adventures of yesterday now flowing in the ether. The soundtrack, being all about quiet acoustic ballads and post-rock-like instrumentals, encouraged me to sink even lower (or higher, in a way) in the catharsis while watching. The soberness of the characters’ tragedy and the absence of grandeur or over-dramatization may have felt ‘boring’ for some viewers, but on my behalf, it was crushing and of all beauty. If you feel all lost in the awful miracle that this world is, you may find this movie touching too. To me, it's a pinnacle of what art is meant to be.

🇬🇧🇺🇸🇨🇦 English Diary, 3th of July 2024 (Post on HelloTalk) All right, fellow learners. I set English as one of my practicing languages (and not my known ones). The reason is because I set myself on the path to obtaining the C2 level by passing the Cambridge Proficiency Exam. Basically, for years English has been an everyday thing to me. To the point that it has become ordinary, melted with the rest of everything else happening daily. However, this goal I thought of a year and a half ago when I arrived in Vietnam has been left behind for a while. Postponed, so to speak. But I believe that now, the bells of discipline have rung strongly and I won't ignore them. Of course, learning languages like German or Japanese at a post-intermediate level is something I feel glad about and in no way, will I fail to pursue learning and practicing those. I am in Switzerland, working during a quiet summer season in a hotel up in the Valais mountains. No worries about finding time for pleasant self-studies. But how can I feel certain about my level in a language I usually assume to be my second one? How can I finally provide something tangible to make clear that I have reached a certain level of mastery of Shakespeare's tongue? There's no other way, as of now. As I behold the foggy view of the Swiss alps from the window of my chalet, I find myself gazing upon both past modest accomplishments and future potential ones. Cheers.
