I'm a native Mandarin speaker and a certified Mandarin teacher with 8 years of experience. I use both pinyin/zhuyin and simplified/traditional characters. I've lived in Mexico, Canada, the US, and Europe before. I have a BS degree in medical imaging and radiological sciences. During my last year in university, I also did a Mandarin teaching program on the side. This is something I enjoy doing more. In junior year of university, a Swedish friend of mine aroused my interest in teaching Chinese so I joined a Chinese Teacher Training Program, got the certificate and started to teach Chinese as well.

At that time, he had been taking some Chinese lessons with a native Spanish speaker. However, I found that his learning method could be improved and realized I could be his Chinese teacher. Since our common language is English, this also gave me an opportunity to practice my English language skills. I discovered that I could use pinyin to help my friend pronounce Chinese correctly.
