Atheletes and entertainers earn a huge amount of money in reflection of people's dependence on entertainment.
To what extent do you agree?
Today, athletes and entertainers are two of the most popular occupations with enourmous earnings. I generally agree with the statement that large incomes of these jobs reflect the strong demand for entertainment in today's society because people need entertainment for leisure which is a substantial part of well-being although high salaries for those professionals also reflect corporations' manoeuvre in the current tax system.
Entertainment plays an important role in people's well-being. It provides an enjoyable off-time to recharge one's battery and opportunities to connect with others sharing similar interests. After a long day, people often feel like winding down with TV shows or hanging out with friends at a sport bar. These activities help remove stress and raise life satisfaction. Many people do not mind paying for such experience, thereby the money ending up into athletes' and entertainers' pocket.
On the other hand, businesses make the most of athletes and entertainers for advertisement and tax deduction. Companies expect them to increase their publicity. The more media coverage they get, the more willing companies are to pay for them. In addition, advertise expenses are deductable from taxable revenue, and salaries for them can be treated as advertising cost. That is one reason many corporations put considerable resources into athletes or entertainers.
In conclusion, although companies have marketing and financial intentions too, high earnings of athletes and entertainers illustrate the popularity of entertainment among people today.
