Vocab Challenge (B2) #day12

Today is November 2. It seems other universities are on fall break, but classes are in session as usual at my university. I didn’t fall asleep very easily last night, so I’m really sleepy right now. But since tomorrow is a holiday, I’ll just power through today. One of my class assignments is a “digital detox.” For someone like me who’s on my phone all day, this is a really tough assignment. And since it lasts for three weeks, I’m feeling pretty down about it. Still, I’ve heard from various sources that a digital detox has many positive effects, so I’m actually looking forward to it a little. I probably wouldn’t do this on my own without an opportunity like this, so I’m going to treat it as a good chance and do my best for these three weeks. I think the biggest hurdle for me will be not being able to listen to music while commuting. Not being able to use my phone while commuting will probably be the hardest part, so I want to find something—like reading a book—that can serve as a substitute for using my phone as soon as possible.

This weekend, I went to Shibuya with my friend. I had been looking forward to this day because I wanted to visit a clothing store for a long time. First, we went shopping. There were many fashionable clothes, shoes, and accessories. I was very happy because I could finally visit the store. I enjoyed looking at different clothes and found some items that I really liked.After shopping, we went to a cafe together. The cafe was very nice and had a relaxing atmosphere. We ordered some drinks and sweets. We sat there for a long time and talked about many things, such as school, friends, and our plans for the future. We did not have to hurry, so we could enjoy our time.I usually have a busy schedule, so it was nice to spend a relaxing day with my friend. I like shopping and visiting cafes, so this was a perfect weekend for me. Shibuya has many interesting shops and cafes, and I want to explore more places next time. I hope I can have another fun day like this soon.

I came across an online article about "New Discovery Regarding Bermuda Triangle" and would like to share some of interesting highlights here. Missing ships and airplanes, other mysterious phenomenon comes to mind for many people when it comes to Bermuda Triangle. However, scientists detected a mysterious geological anomaly beneath Bermuda Triangle which is attractive to science. The article on the new discovery said like this 1)Stone and rock layers with thickness of about 20km under Bermuda islands are confirmed, but they are unprecedented in all of other oceanic islands. 2)These stones and rocks has lower density than surrounding mantles and works as a raft to keep island chain high. 3)This discovery was done by analyzing seismic waves from far a few hundreds of earthquakes with the depth of 50km. 4)This unusual phenomenon can have a bearing on ancient mantle process connected to Pangaea which all continents were once joined together. That might freshen up our understanding specific volcanic island. These island chains in the Atlantic Ocean have been one of a kind from geological point of view. The seafloor topography of Bermuda islands reveals remarkable rise even though their volcanic activity ended over three hundreds thousand years ago and they have no heat source. I, too, used to be passionate about Bermuda triangle when I was a kid. However, it seems that we still have plenty of things unknown around there and I would like to check this kind of article in the future.

I got the flu after the dance club party. I was very tired and could not go to school or work for about a week. I had to stay home and rest. It was difficult because I wanted to go out and meet my friends. However, I am feeling better now. Yesterday, I went to my part-time job for the first time in a week. I was happy to see my coworkers again, but I felt more tired than usual. I think my body still needs some time to recover. Working after taking a week off was harder than I expected. I want to get back to my normal routine slowly. Tomorrow, I am going to a movie preview event for my favorite idol. I have been looking forward to this event for a long time, so I am very excited. I wonder what the movie will be like. I also hope I can enjoy the special event and have a wonderful time. I am happy that I finally have something fun to look forward to after being sick for a week. I hope tomorrow will be a great day!
