There is not doubt that human is very vulnerable when facing extreme weather. The power comes from nature can easily ruin pur home, such as flood, hurricane and high temperature. Even so, many people still believe that thay can win the nature in any case. About 25 years ago, a famous Chinese trekker decided to go through the Lop Nor which is called the Sea of Dead! There was nothing there besides sand and high temperature. He just buried some bottles of water in some spots before the day of his adventure. He started his trip with few tools and his courage. Everything went well in the first two days, but on the third day, a big sandstorm made him get lost. He continued his trip on the wrong way until he was running out of water. He was found a few days later in his tent. He died due to dehydration. Outside his tent, there was a deep hole dug by the adventurer with a knife. We can picture that how he was hopeless when he found there was no water at the bottom of the hole. We really respect this hero, but we should respect the nature, too. Extreme weather is scared, but if we prepare enough for it, we can protect ouesleves from hurting!

Dear Mother xx, Thank you for sharing the eulogy of Sister xx and xx’s. I am sad to hear their passing and I am sure they are in a better place now. Their passing reminds me that what I read in Psalms Chapter 39 last week, “LORD, let me know my end, the number of my days, that I may learn how frail I am.” and warns me how we should live in such a short earthly journey. “Anything you can turn your hand to, do with what power you have; for there will be no work, no planning, no knowledge, no wisdom in Sheol where you are going.” It was my privilege to know them even though my journey was short at xx Abbey. They were lovely and their beautiful voices and faces are always in our memory. We miss them and they will always live in our hearts. Best wishes, Xin

In Chinese, there’s no need for a “be” verb between a subject and a descriptive phrase. Asking “and you?” how are you? I'm pretty good. What about you? choose one of the characters below. Pair up with a classmate and role play the conversation. Where are you from? I'm Chinese. How about you? I'm Chinese. What about Mark? Chinese native speakers are more likely to ask about each other's well-being when they haven't seen each other for a while. How have you been lately? It's rare for people to answer with “I'm super good.” or “I'm not good.” Below are some of the most common answers. I'm not bad. I'm doing okay. I'm pretty busy. same old, same old. Based on the time of day, write an appropriate way to greet your teacher. When you want to say “see you” to a friend whom you expect to see soon at school.
