先月サウジアラビアから帰国したということで、しばらくサウジアラビアに関するエピソードをお話します。今日はサウジアラビア入国前の準備についてです。コロナ禍での海外旅行に使えるフレーズを学べます。

②どうして私は観光ビザのチャットサポートに問い合わせたのでしょうか。
③サウジアラビア人が観光で日本を訪れる際はどうやって観光ビザを取得しますか。

【スクリプト】
一回目の今日のテーマは「2年ぶりのサウジアラビアへ～準備編～」です。4週間ほど前にサウジアラビアから帰国したので、今日からしばらくはサウジアラビアに関するエピソードをお届けしたいと思います。今日のフレーズは「念のため」です。意味を知らない人はどういう意味か想像しながら聞いてみてくださいね。
このポッドキャストの概要欄を見てくれた人は分かると思うけど、私の夫はサウジアラビア人で3歳のハーフの息子がいます。コロナが流行し始めた2020年2月から7月まで初めて一緒にサウジアラビアに滞在した後、諸事情で夫と1年半以上離れて日本で暮らしていました。コロナの状況も少し落ち着いたということで、急遽3か月前にサウジアラビアへ行くことになりました。
息子と私は観光ビザで行く必要があったので、観光ビザを取得するサイトで入国条件を確認しました。パスポートの有効期限が6か月以上であること、到着の48時間以内に検査したPCR検査または抗原検査の陰性証明書とサウジアラビア政府が認めているワクチンの接種証明書、もちろん有効な観光ビザも必要でした。日本語サイトがなかったので、英語の説明を読んだのですが、最初ワクチン接種が3回必要と書いてあると思ってすぐいけないと思いました。念のため、チャットサポートに確認したら2回でも大丈夫だと言われたので一安心。そしてパスポートを確認すると、残り4か月しかないことに気づきました。2日後にパスポート更新へ行き、1週間後に新しいパスポートをもらいました。そのあとすぐに日本政府発行のコロナワクチン接種証明書アプリで証明書を発行しました。これでやっと観光ビザの取得ができます。観光ビザの手続きはwebで10分以内に終わり、5分以内にビザが発行されます。サウジアラビア人が日本へ観光で行くときはわざわざ日本大使館まで行かないといけないけど、サウジアラビアの観光ビザの取得は本当に簡単です。
航空券を予約した後、PCR検査の検査機関を探しました。サウジアラビア到着の48時間前というと、フライトの当日の朝に検査しなければなりませんでした。大阪の空港でもできますが、そこで陽性になったら当然いけませんし、当時は公共交通機関を使わず自宅へ戻らなければならなかったので、念のため地元で検査することにしました。検査結果は、無事陰性！当日はバタバタでしたが、何とか荷造りを終え、特急電車で関西国際空港へ向かいました。

少し長かったですが、どうでしたか？そして、今日のフレーズ「念のため」の意味はわかりましたか？2回出てきましたね。意味は「大丈夫だと思うが、より確実にするために。」です。英語だとJust in case、to be sure、to make sureなどです。例えば、「今日は曇りだけど、降水確率が40%だから念のため傘を持っていこう。」や「念のために言っておくけど、私たちはただの友達だよ。」というように使います。二つ目の例文の英語はJust for the recordが適していると思います。「念のため」は日常会話でもビジネスでもよく使う表現ですので、ぜひ練習してみてくださいね！それではまたお会いしましょう。
