ติวเตอร์ของชุมชน✅ English for Interviews: What to Say When…
Part 1: You Need Time to Think or Clarify Something
CEFR Level: B1–C1 | Reading Time: 3–4 minutes
When you’re in a job interview or important conversation, it’s normal to pause and think, but many learners feel uncomfortable doing it. The truth is, even native speakers need time to think, rephrase, or clarify. Here are some natural ways to do both with confidence:
🧠 What to Say When You Need Time to Think:
“That’s a great question, let me think for a moment.”
“I just want to make sure I explain this clearly.”
“Let me put it this way…”
“How can I explain this…?”
“Off the top of my head…”
These expressions show you’re confident and thoughtful, not lost.
💬 What to Say to Clarify or Paraphrase:
“So, what you’re saying is…”
“Just to clarify…”
“Let me make sure I understand correctly.”
“In other words…”
“To put it another way…”
These help confirm what you’ve heard and show professionalism.
