Becoming an English teacher and gaining vital experience in a classroom has made for a terrific year. As a retired management consultant I speak the language of professionals such as accountants, consultants, engineers and managers. I worked as an engineer at Boeing for several years before getting my MBA and working 15 years as a management consultant in the oil and gas, manufacturing and chemicals industries. 

I can not only help you with your English, but also help you become more effective in your job, whether it is dealing with associates, bosses or subordinates.

I do not have a specific text book or materials. I will customize each lesson so that you learn what you want to achieve your goals.

Teaching and training was a big part of my job as a consultant. I have given hundreds of training sessions to mid and high level managers, supervisors, engineers and other staff. The topics ranged from technical training such as problem solving and statistical process control to management skills such as communication and giving feedback. My job also required a lot of one on one coaching, so I am trained to observe and tailor my approach to my clients (students) in order to maximize learning.

As part of the Environmental Control Systems team, I helped design, build and test the air conditioning systems on Boeing 747 and 767 aircraft.

Great Courses - Learn a subject in detail

This is the certificate that you must acquire if you want to teach in English schools as a fully qualified teacher.

I just wanted to verify that my claim of a top 5 mark in my English exams was an honest one.

Before our trial lesson, I find out what your level and needs are. Also, it's important to know exactly what you'd like to practice: General English, Business English, IELTS, TOEFL or another Cambridge Exam. Based on your needs, I prepare for the lesson in advance so that I can meet your expectations.

In teaching General English I use two main approaches: Direct and Communicative

The main features of these approaches are a complex of questions, videos, exercises, dictations, texts and audio tracks which are joined together and directed at providing students with the ability to comprehend and speak real-life English. 

This complex was built in such a way that all necessary words and grammar can be easily and quickly mastered and remembered. Classes include 70 per cent of conversations between a teacher and a student. Vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation (I speak with American Accent) as well are mostly developed by means of an interview - students are asked questions in which particular vocabulary or grammar are used. Learners give complete answers, using new learning material meanwhile. This course promotes learners to use new words and grammar immediately, to draw them into speaking.

I'll send you all necessary materials for free. 

Each lesson is mainly directed towards the productive skills (not just receiving language and processing it, but producing the language) and is rather substantial and intensive, which allows to decrease the amount of homework greatly. At the same time, minimum 1 hour per week should be dedicated to homework. I advise not to do it at one sitting. It would be more beneficial for you to work on the task in a number of sittings over a period of time. For example, 10 minutes every day. 
You can choose for yourself how long you want to practice English, or can follow the syllabus which I recommend:
BEGINNER A1 - 16 classes
ELEMENTARY A2 - 37 classes
PRE-INTERMEDIATE B1 - 32 classes
INTERMEDIATE B2 - 42 classes
ADVANCED C1-C2 - 44 classes

The Business English course is designed for business people and students preparing for a career in business or for those who want to improve their English communication skills. 

SPEAKING 
You’ll develop essential business communication skills, such as speaking to colleagues and customers, giving presentations, negotiating and making phone calls.
During each lesson you’ll learn new words and phrases essential for realistic business situations.
We have lots of discussions which are based on most popular business topics and allow you to use the new language you have developed. I'll keep an eye on your grammar and pronunciation as well. 

Listening, Reading & Writing

   The method encourages learning in lexical chunks, rather than on a word-by-word basis. A large amount of communication involves common phrases: “glad to hear that,” “take into consideration,” “pleased to confirm”, etc. You should memorize a language in phrases and you'll have a ready arsenal, without the stress of having to build and conjugate sentences from scratch.The most part of the class you’ll need to answer your teachers’ questions in order to practice vocabulary and grammar in context; you have to give complete answers, but not short ones, using the very vocabulary and grammar that are trained at the particular moment.

Responsibilities:
- support the work of high school teachers in the classroom through a range of activities dependent upon specific student needs within the learning environment

Responsibilities:

- deliver a specialized, intensive 2-month English course designed to enhance the workplace communication skills of women immigrants in Canada, including verbal and written skills, professional etiquette, and cultural nuances specific to Canadian workplaces
- deliver dynamic and effective instructions through a mix of interactive activities, group discussions, and practical exercises

I taught an intensive Business Workplace Communications Course in Canada in the summer of 2023. The purpose of this course was to increase students’ employability by enhancing their understanding of Canadian workplace culture, improving their management skills, teaching them how to find and keep a job, ace a job interview, provide feedback to employees, effectively communicate with colleagues, supervisors and customers, and build long-lasting professional relationships.

From 2011 to 2022, I worked as Head Teacher at Los Angeles English School where I prepared students for IELTS and TOEFL. I had lots of workshops and PD sessions on how to prepare students for IELTS & TOEFL. I've also attached my CELTA certificate, my Bachelor's Degree in teaching English that was evaluated by WES Canada, the certificates of attendance of various workshops on preparing students for tests.
