How to Give Directions: A Beginner's Guide

In this episode, we cover basic phrases and vocabulary you can use to give directions in Ukrainian.
Getting Attention:
Перепрошую! (Pereproshuyu!) – Excuse me!
Asking Where Something Is:
Де [place]? (De [place]?) – Where is [place]?
Example: Де метро? – Where is the metro?
Important Direction Verbs:
Йдіть (Ydit') – Go
Поверніть (Povernit') – Turn
Пройдіть (Proydit') – Walk past
Перейдіть (Pereydit') – Cross
Extra Direction Words:
Праворуч (Pravoruch) – Right
Ліворуч (Lívoruch) – Left
Прямо (Pryamo) – Straight ahead
Тут (Tut) – Here
Поруч (Poruch) – Nearby/Next to
Sample Dialogue:
You: Вибачте, де метро? (Excuse me, where is the metro?)
Local: Йдіть прямо, потім поверніть ліворуч. (Go straight, then turn left.)
You: Дякую! (Thank you!)
Local: Будь ласка! (You're welcome!)
