はい、こんにちは。今回はポッドキャストのシーズン3の2回目です。先週、クレジットカードのゴールドカードが届きました。日本ではフリーランスは社会的に信用が低いですが、続けていればクレジットスコアは上がっていくんですね。みなさんのおかげです。これからも頑張ります。

Hello. This is episode 2 of Season 3 of my podcast. I received my gold credit card last week. In Japan, the social standing of freelancers is generally low, but I’ve noticed that if you keep at it, your credit score will go up. It’s all thanks to you, my students and listeners. 前回はパソコンを買い替える話をしました。今日、新しいパソコンを注文しました。私が注文したのはM1チップのMacBook Airです。M1モデルを選んだ理由は2つあります。一つ目の理由はノッチです。M2モデルには画面にノッチがついています。ノッチとはカメラの周りの黒い部分のことです。私はよくメニューバーの真ん中を使うので、ノッチが邪魔に感じました。二つ目の理由は、今年の3月にM3モデルが発売するという噂があったからです。M3モデルが発売したら、M1モデルはなくなってしまうかもしれません。また3月に私が今使っている2017年製のMacBookのサポートが終了します。サポートが終了したら、売る時の値段が安くなってしまうかもしれません。

Last time I talked about replacing my computer. Today I actually ordered a new computer. I ordered the MacBook Air with the M1 chip. I chose the M1 model for two reasons. The first reason is the notch. The notch is the black area around the camera. I often use the middle of the menu bar, so I found the notch annoying. The second reason is that there was a rumour that the M3 model would be released in March of this year. If the M3 model is released, the M1 model may disappear. In addition, support for my current 2017 MacBook is due to end in March. Once this happens, the resale value might fall.

しかし、M1モデルは2020年発売なので、スペックが充分かどうか不安でした。そこでパソコンに詳しい生徒さんたちからアドバイスをもらって、ユニファイドメモリを16GBにアップグレードしました。私は今大学生なので学割が使えるし、キャンペーンのギフトカードがもらえたので、合計で41800円安くなりました。今使っている2017年製のMacBookの下取りを合わせると、あと1万円ぐらい安くなるかもしれません。下取りとは、新しい物を買うときに、同時に古い物を同じ店に売って、割引を受けることです。とてもいい買い物でした。届くのが楽しみです。

Many people shy away from negotiations, worried that they'll come across as aggressive or that the interaction will turn adversarial. However, effective negotiation is not about winning at all costs; it's about finding a mutually beneficial solution. Approach the negotiation with a collaborative mindset, focusing on finding common ground and exploring creative options that address the needs of both parties.

Instead of viewing the negotiation as a high-stakes battle, consider it an opportunity to showcase your problem-solving skills and demonstrate your value to the organization. Shift your mindset from "I have to win" to "I have the chance to find a solution that works for everyone." This subtle shift in perspective can help reduce the sense of personal threat and allow you to engage in the negotiation process with greater confidence and composure.

Finally, it's important to remember that workplace anxiety is a natural and common response to high-pressure situations. Rather than trying to eliminate it entirely, focus on developing strategies to manage and channel that energy in a productive way. Engage in stress-reducing activities, such as deep breathing exercises or mindfulness practices, to help you stay grounded and focused during the negotiation process.

Anxiety when Negotiating - Episode 58 

Different students learn better in different ways, and it's important to find a way to study that works best for you. Here are some things that you can try to help you study better.

Make a plan
Decide when, where and for how long you are going to study. If you decide what you need to get done every time you study, then it will be easier to achieve your goals. Also, if you do smaller amounts of work regularly, you won't have the stress of needing to cram everything just before an important exam.

Test yourself on what you've learned
After you read something, you should test yourself on it. And instead of just doing it once, do it often. Try to test yourself days and weeks after you first learn something to make sure you really remember it. You can also work with a friend to test each other.

Take a break
Research has shown that taking breaks can help you work or study better. A study by the company DeskTime found that the most productive people work for about 52 minutes at a time, then take a 17-minute break in between. So when making your study plan, don't forget to include breaks in it.

Stay healthy
Getting exercise and sleeping well can actually help you study. Research has found that regular exercise can improve both memory and thinking skills, while sleeping helps the brain save new information.
