Listening Lab: Stress and Rhythm in Six Real Scenes | Understanding Indian English #059
Mô tả
Episodes 41 to 58 took the word endings, syllables, stress and rhythm of Indian English one feature at a time. In a real conversation they arrive together: a full "-ed", an evenly stressed "development", a held double consonant, a stretched phrase-final syllable and a "no?" tag can all land inside ten seconds. This lab puts you in six short scenes (a phone call, a shop, an office stand-up, a railway announcement, a cooking chat and a tech support call) and decodes each line.
What you will learn:
• The three tools you will use
• Practice: decode the sentence — scene one: the phone call
• Scene two: the shop (prices and quantities)
• Scene three: the office stand-up (work updates)
• Scene four: the railway announcement (numbers and lists)
• Scene five: the cooking chat (loanwords and long vowels)
• Scene six: tech support (spelling and speed)
• Timed self-check
• Listening strategies
• Self-check questions to test your ear
Level: B1–B2. Self-study: listen, then take the quizzes.
Audio voiced with AI from an original script by Dr. Rashmi R Nair.
