Mô tả
One of the most widely described grammar features of Indian English is the use of the -ing form (the progressive) with verbs that, in many other varieties, usually appear only in the simple form. You may hear: "I am knowing him for years." "She is having two cars." "We are understanding the issue." "He is wanting to meet you." "Everyone is liking the new design." To a listener who expects "I know", "she has", "we understand", these can sound unusual, and some listeners even misread the meaning, for example thinking "having a car" means borrowing one right now. What you will learn: • State verbs with -ing • Having: owning VS doing • Habits and general truths • Duration: "I AM here since morning" • Why this pattern exists • Responding naturally • Practice: decode the sentence • Listening strategies • Self-check questions to test your ear Level: B1–B2. Self-study: listen, then take the quizzes. Audio voiced with AI from an original script by Dr. Rashmi R Nair.
