Do you have a job interview coming up? Are you nervous? Would you consider doing a mock interview to practice your answers?
If you have an interview in English coming up, I would strongly recommend doing a mock test either with a friend, a language partner or a Professional Teacher before the interview. This is invaluable and will help you to build your confidence and therefore feel more comfortable.
Many job interviews, regardless of the job or field within which you are applying to, involve very similar questions that one can prepare general answers to. Does this mean that you should memorize your answers? No, definitely not! But preparing and practicing some general thoughts can help to build your confidence and overall fluency.
Some common examples of questions would be:
Tell me a bit more about yourself.
Why are you interested in working here?
What are your strengths/weaknesses?
How well do you work in a team?
Tell me about a time you made a mistake and how you handled it.
This is not a detailed list, but rather just a few examples to show you what I mean.
Generally speaking, I would recommend doing at least 2 separate mock tests with a minimum of 48 hours apart. Your friend, language partner or teacher can listen to you, take notes, even record the test on Zoom, and then give you feedback on what you did well and what areas you could improve on.
You should take a day or two to review this feedback/incorporate it in your answers and then do a second mock interview to really put the feedback into practice. A third practice session is also recommended if you have the time. If you are diligent and have a good partner/teacher, you will definitely see some improvements!
Good luck! (",)
