Day 22. Reading
(Edited Day 23)
While a learning languages, you can't ignore the four abilities, which are speaking, listening, writing and reading. If you asked me which skill is the most difficult, I would have answered it's speaking before but, now I would say it's reading.
Have you ever asked yourself, "Which one is that you need much effort to read, newspapers or novels?
I started to read a science fiction story and I found it more difficult than newspapers.
The articles on newspapers give you the certain information that who did, what did, when, where and how clearly with some details that the person concerned knows. It seems easy and interesting for readers to understand it. On the contrary, the story of novels--especially interesting ones--don't reveal everything at first and make the readers guess what would happen on the next corner.
When I read an English novel, I need abilities to read and think, guess and imagine. It might be fun but also tiring since it is written in foreign language. Then I tend to choose an easy novel, and I would be bored soon. It's dilemma, isn't it?
"I want to read it, but it's hard, I can't. But I want to do, but I can't, but I want."
Now I'm reading The Future Is Ours by Edward D.Hoch. The editor is Steve Steinbock who is an italki member. He's been my friend since I started Italki. I've decided to read it all of 237 pages! Wish me luck!

Chizuko, congratulations on your efforts. Reading in a foreign language is difficult at the start, but the more you do the easier it gets. An Italki member? Now I am curious with the book!

@Lidia. Yes. I'm reading the beginning and it has already fascinated me. I've read his other book a little, "The Thefts of Nick Velvet". It was my kind of book. Thanks for your comment, Lidia.
