I knew I had attained a good spoken fluency in Japanese the first time I dreamed a full dream in Japanese. I don’t even remember the dream now, except that there were many people present and all were naturally speaking Japanese. But I remember waking up and feeling amazed. There is still a lot to learn, as there always is in language learning, but I knew then that I had a solid base in speaking Japanese.
