Even when dealing with my bad Wifi connection the lesson pushed through and was very detailed with good interesting homework.

Victor’s teaching method relies on material from lusophone literature rather than standard textbook exercises. This approach may seem unusual at first, but it quickly proves very effective: he selects poems or short stories suited to your level and illustrating grammar constructions you have just studied. He also introduces the author and provides context for the work, which often leads to interesting discussions about history, geography and society of Portuguese-speaking countries. Victor is also very receptive to feedback and adapts his classes to your needs. Some flexibility with scheduling may be needed, but he is always friendly and accommodating when arranging or rearranging lessons. Given his background in Latin and Romance linguistics and literature, he is an excellent choice if you are a native speaker of a Romance language and want to learn Portuguese by building on the similarities with your own language, rather than relying on abstract explanations through English.

Victor’s brilliant. Great technique, very down to earth and knows his stuff. Excellent command of the English language too which is a significant help when it comes to understanding slight shades of meaning in new words in Portuguese. I feel so ready for my exam, more than I have in years. Book him!!!
