Really like working with Mark. Aside from clearly talking and explaining the pronunciation and grammar, it's also possible to discuss current Chinese culture and media, which I appreciate. I think it's good to learn more about the country and its culture as it makes learning Chinese easier.

I’ve really enjoyed my lessons with Mark. As a beginner in Mandarin, I appreciate how structured and organized his lessons are, with a clear plan for where we’re headed. I especially like that we practice real dialogue from the beginning. Mark adjusts the conversation to my level while helping me understand the nuances of spoken Mandarin—especially accents, tones, and pronunciation details that aren’t always obvious from the HSK books I’ve started studying. He’s patient, encouraging, and makes speaking Mandarin feel comfortable. I’d definitely recommend Mark to anyone looking for a structured approach with plenty of practical speaking practice.

Mark does an excellent job of teaching me how to better structure sentences more "authentically" and is super quick to find out how to express the things I want to say in Chinese. I have already improved so much in my speaking especially, and I think it's in part because of how attentive of a teacher Mark is, but also because he's super fun to talk to! I like that I have a job of how I want to structure class, whether it's in a more systemic way or if I want casual conversation. Mark also always solicits feedback on the class and teaching style which I really appreciate. Overall, I think a huge part in being consistent with language learning is to find someone who makes it fun. Mark does just that, and I definitely am glad I decided to start learning from him! Highly recommend!
