Great first lesson I will be back for another

The exercises are tailored to my abilities. Vanessa gradually increases the difficulty level of new exercises in order to build on my existing skill set. She uses a lot of examples and is always willing to go back to study areas where I am weakest in my comprehension.

I get the sense that we're not supposed to leave even slightly negative reviews, but my lesson with Vanessa was quite unpleasant. I had goals for the lesson which she ignored. Most significantly though, she was frustrated with my level—this was the second time I attempted to speak Spanish with anyone and I did my best. She cut the lesson short out of impatience. The day before, I had a wonderful lesson with another instructor on iTalki, so it's not the platform, nor me. Based on other reviews, it seems Vanessa was having a bad day (I'm a teacher myself, no one's perfect), but it felt nonetheless responsible to share my experience with others.

The lesson went great! I expected to talk a lot which I did and when I had a grammatical question we transitioned smoothly into an exercise on that skill. I had fun and progressed towards my language goals.

The exercises are tailored to my skill level and gradually increases in complexity. If there are issues, Vanessa is willing to review material to correct any issues with understanding.
