Bonjour à tous ! Je suis Monique, une Brésilienne qui vit en France. J’aide les apprenants anglophones et francophones à progresser en portugais sur Italki. I’m a biologist passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge. I’ve taught students of all ages — from children to university level — and volunteered as a biology teacher in a prep course. At Fiocruz, I trained collaborators, taught postgraduate classes, and co-mentored students. I also worked in museums, bringing science closer to people in an engaging way.

My classes focus on conversation as the main way to learn Portuguese. Grammar appears naturally, through real language use, not from a textbook. We’ll use pictures, songs, videos, and slides on topics suggested by me or by you. The goal is to learn by speaking, sharing ideas, and enjoying the process together.

Mes cours sont axés sur la conversation comme moyen principal d’apprendre le portugais. La grammaire est intégrée naturellement, à travers l’usage réel de la langue, sans manuel. Monique was very nice, welcoming, and open to creating a learning plan that I was comfortable with. I definitely recommend lessons with Monique, and so far I am excited to continue my Portuguese journey!

Monique is super friendly and full of positive energy. You feel comfortable with her right away. She’s easy to talk to, always smiling, and really interesting to chat with. I love that she speaks French and English too, which makes communication even smoother. She genuinely adapts to your way of learning and keeps the conversation flowing naturally. Highly recommended!
