Hi, I am a native Dutch speaker who has lived in New Zealand for the past 20 years. I am passionate about the power of language as a means to form connections with people from all over the world. I have a degree majoring in English and a TESOL Certificate for teaching English. I enjoy travel, food, scuba diving, and talking to people who come from diverse cultural backgrounds, since there is something to be learnt for everyone involved when these meaningful connections are being formed. I like to teach in an informal way, through conversations and the use of humour where suitable and appropriate. I look at teaching language skills as an interchange between two people with a common goal rather than the more formal Student Teacher relationship. I am a people person who thoroughly enjoys meeting others, and I believe this shines through in my teaching style. While having solid knowledge of grammar and vocabulary to fill in the gaps where necessary, I do believe it is through informal conversation and interactions where the learning shines the most. My teaching style is informal as stated above, and though I do like to have some kind of structure, in order to make the most of the time allotted, I also believe that a natural flow will take over at some point and there should be some flexibility for this. Mandy is a very friendly conversation tutor. She makes it easy and comfortable for me to chat and super helpful in improving my expressions and vocabulary.

I had a great 2-hour Dutch speaking session with Mrs. Mandy. She is very patient and takes the time to note down my mistakes, which helps a lot with learning, as a Dutch beginner. She is also very careful with pronunciation, making sure I say words correctly. I really appreciate that she speaks in a simple and clear way, giving me enough time to listen and respond. It made the conversation feel natural and not rushed. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve their Dutch speaking skills!
