Hi! I’m Jorunn, I’m 30 years old and originally from Germany. German is my native language, but I also speak English and Portuguese. I’ve been teaching for three years now and I work fully online, which allows me to live in different places — something I really enjoy! When I’m not teaching, I love cooking, spending time with my dog, and knitting. As a teacher, I’m open-minded, friendly, and always interested in getting to know my students — their ideas, stories, and perspectives inspire me! I believe that a positive and relaxed learning environment helps students feel comfortable and motivated. My lessons are centered around meaningful topics that are great for conversation. Each session includes a set of guiding questions that help us dive into the topic, along with a small grammar focus that fits naturally into the discussion. We practice grammar in real-life contexts, so students can understand when and how to use it in everyday situations. I also encourage students to choose topics that interest them — that way, learning feels relevant and fun!

I've completed 27 German classes with Jorunn and have nothing but compliments for her.
She's always easy-going, energetic, encouraging, and patient. She speaks German almost 100% of the time, and always encourages you to do the same. This creates a relaxing and fun environment for effective learning, in which you are encouraged to speak German as much as possible, without feeling embarrassed about making mistakes.
Her class notes in the form of PowerPoint slides, consisting of various exercises and texts, are well-prepared and well-organized. These reveal the amount of thought and effort she put into making them, and sometimes into updating them according to my progress. These notes help me engage and learn in an enjoyable way, while saving me a lot of time on note-taking during and after class.
Over the past two months, starting as an almost complete beginner, I've been having fun learning with Joruun, and my German has improved significantly.
