Rika was super fun to talk to! this was my first conversation practice class so I was nervous at first, but that quickly dissipated once we got to talking. She gave great feedback and was helpful whenever I got stuck or was confused, and she helped me feel comfortable asking questions and trying to do things with the language that I wasn't yet confident about.

Great starter lesson. She gave me feedback and asked what I wanted out of the trial lesson. And when I didn't quite understand a word or sentence she said, she would type it out so I could fully understand. She has a great understanding of English as well, I have no worries when it comes to asking her a question in English if I can't find the phrasing in Japanese.

As someone fairly introverted, I’ve studied Japanese off and on for about 20 years now, but mostly focused on reading. Things change, though, and I’m set on taking my family to Japan for a long vacation soon. I don’t want us to be limited to only touristy areas where I can rely on English (田舎で！). This goal finally gave me the motivation to book my first lesson and focus on improving my speaking and listening skills. My lesson with Rika was literally my first time speaking Japanese with another person, so I was understandably nervous. However, after our trial lesson, I honestly couldn’t imagine a better experience. Rika was incredibly kind, open, and made me feel comfortable, even when I struggled, paused frequently, or switched back and forth between Japanese and English. She didn’t rush me, interrupt me, or jump in to “correct” me. Although it was just our first lesson, I’m really grateful to have met Rika. I definitely plan to continue lessons with her and am excited to improve!
