Thuý

Thuy is an incredibly gifted teacher. She always knows how to help me advance in my study of Vietnamese and she is very, very patient! Lessons with Thuy are always fun and interesting. She is the best teacher and also a very kind and generous person.

This was another terrific lesson with lots of conversation. Thank you so much for all of the time you take to help me learn and improve my speaking.

We talked about a variety of topics, including my plans to travel in Vietnam. We covered a lot of vocabulary and grammatical constructions. I feel my Vietnamese is gradually improving with Thúy's help.

Thúy has helped me study Vietnamese for 8 months now. I started out only knowing “Xin chào” and “Cảm ơn”, and have now made a trip to Hanoi where I held basic conversations with native speakers. Thúy provides a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy for you to say “I don’t understand this, can you explain it?” Especially with the tones, where I felt embarrassed by how many times I had to practice, but she was always patient and helped me get it right. And she continues to correct me with pronunciation each lesson! You can’t learn a language in only a few hours each week, so you have to practice on your own outside of class, and Thúy recommended great resources to help me in studying Vietnamese outside of our class time.

Thuý is so amazingly dedicated, just great: She really tailor cuts the material to my personal needs and is very agile about modifying her materials on the fly.

I've just had a trial lesson with Thuý and I enjoyed it very much. She shows a good pace that is challenging but not overwhelming. This suits my learning needs well. Thuý puts a strong focus on pronunciation, which I think is the very important for learning new languages, even more so when it comes to tonal ones. She seems to have a very good foundation, both in grammatical and in phonological terms and presented herself genuinely friendly, polite and supportive. The advice she gave me with regards to lesson frequency and length suggests that student progress is important to her. The resources she provided are a big plus.
