Denisse V.

Out of all the Spanish teachers on italki and the other platforms I’ve tried, Denisse is a true gem. She's easily the best Spanish teacher I've had. My main objective is to practice speaking as that’s something difficult to do on my own. Denisse is very resourceful in getting me to speak on a variety of topics through casual conversations or creative exercises. Her experience as a multi-language speaker/learner is a tremendous and indispensable asset. She understands what it takes to learn and improve a language. She’s intelligent and really “gets it.” Denisse is always well-prepared for the classes. She diligently writes down the corrections or new words/expressions every time – I found it to be very helpful to be able to review them after class. She also spends her own time outside the class reviewing homework assignments, which not many other teachers do. She speaks Spanish very clearly and is easy to understand. I highly recommend Denisse as a Spanish teacher.

Denisse is an incredibly talented teacher who has been helping me with my Spanish language skills. She has a natural ability to make beginners feel comfortable and confident as they start to create their first sentences. As I progressed, Denisse helped me expand my vocabulary and improve my fluency, always with a patient and encouraging attitude. What impressed me the most is her knowledge of various languages, which allows her to adapt to the needs of students depending on their mother tongue. I highly recommend Denisse to anyone looking for a skilled and friendly Spanish teacher.

I am a native English speaker learning Spanish. Denisse is one of my favorite tutors and pivotal to my Spanish progress. I have been working with her since the very beginning of my Spanish journey. She has been the bridge between Duolingo to eventually Spanish proficiency. Denisse is the perfect supplement for practicing my listening and speaking. She is very patient and an awesome conversationalist. In the very beginning, we started very basic. Now we can have 80%+ of our conversations in Spanish through a range of topics in all tenses. I highly recommend Denisse to newbies with basic conservational Spanish or above. Denisse is very helpful because she is essentially native in English and can infer what you are trying to say and *emphasize* explain why . ~Why~ is vital as a non native because we need to learn by rules and reasoning. Do not be afraid of her Chilean accent! She can speak very slowly - depending on your level. I have never had any difficulty!

I have been working with Denisse for a little over 6 months consistently and she has been amazing. As someone who didn't have much ability to speak Spanish and construct sentences, she has always been patient and given constructive feedback that helps me! Most of our lessons are based on conversation practice and sentence structuring which is exactly what I needed. I've recommended Denisse to multiple friends and they feel the same way! Could not recommend her enough!

Denisse is part of my life. When too many days have gone by without my talking to her I feel out of sorts. Speaking Spanish with her means not just that she offers me necessary words when I can’t think of them but that she makes intriguing the exploration of language and culture in general. From our first session several years ago she has continued to impress me with her wisdom and insight. A patient, perceptive teacher, she instills confidence. I am grateful to be her student and to count her as my friend.
