Sophie Langer

I discovered Sophie's profile after working with several other language tutors. I've been an off-and-on language learner my whole life, with some not-so-successful experiences in classroom settings and university language classes. From the first session, Sophie was able to validate and demonstrate how much I was already knew and pushed me to expand my conversational skills to more complex topics, while introducing complex grammar. Since working with her, I've completed several group language classes, had job interviews in German, and worked in Berlin. Without her support and guidance, this would not have been possible. She guided me out of a dead-end routine of constant memorization and grammar exercises and showed how language learning is about connecting with people. I highly recommend her classes to anyone who wants a genuinely human approach to language learning and to learn from someone with an enormous amount of experience in learning various languages and exploring cultures.

Sophie is simply a magnificent person and I can't believe how lucky I am to have struck gold on my first German lesson here on iTalki after a long absence. Behind her most affable demeanour hides an extremely sharp spirit, ebullient intellectual vigour and deep insights and knowledge regarding the German language. My first 1-hour lesson with Sophie was simple yet stupendously effective - definitely one of the most productive hours of my life! She provided such efficient pronunciation tips ("huge") and gave sense to all the words. Sophie also displayed such patience and kindness towards a beginner, which really motivates me to get to a better level as soon as possible. Above all, I'm so grateful for how naturally Sophie was able to adapt to the way I learn, and for the connivance we share with regards to our approach to language-learning. Sophie radiates with an inner shine, and I have the certainty that I will be able to progress with her help. I cannot wait for my next lesson!

Ich hatte ein sehr nettes, unterhaltsames Gespräch mit Sophie. Da ich vor allem meine Sprechfähigkeit im Spanischen verbessern möchte, ist das genau das, was ich erwartet hatte und was mir weiterhilft. Alles super, ich werde auf jeden Fall weitere Stunden bei Sophie buchen.

I cannot say enough great things about Sophie! She's really adept at getting me to learn as we're having a good conversation. She's good at not only deepening my vocabulary, but she also gives me alternative words to use in different situations. Sophie is smart, funny, patient, and all around wonderful person, the time just flies by speaking with her!

Sophie ist die beste Lehrerin ever! Ihr Unterricht ist spannend und motivierend; ich lerne immer etwas Nützliches dabei. Sie leitet die Diskussion und macht das hervorragend. Selbst ohne besondere Vorbereitung werden wir bestimmt ein Thema finden, das uns beide interessiert :) Viele Grüße!
