I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, an interesting city known as the "Venice of America" due to the many canals that connect different neighborhoods. As we are very close to the Caribbean in South Florida, it is usually hot and sunny; and I spend my free time diving, fishing, and exploring the diverse nature we have here. I work as a kindergarten teacher at a school of mostly immigrant children, so many of my students cannot speak English when the school year begins. Watching them progress in their speaking and grow comfortable in the language is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

I have a BA and MA in international relations; and I have been continuously studying one language or another for most of my life. I have plenty of experience being on the other side of language learning, where I could barely make one or two sentences, so I know it can be frustrating and intimidating. But those stages are necessary, so I have no problem spending our lessons speaking at a very slow pace if you are just beginning in English. I have been there many times in other languages, and I always appreciated a patient, nonjudgemental conversation partner. As a community tutor my classes are all just conversation, at whatever level you are currently speaking.
We can talk about anything you like, from business English to daily life conversations. If you just want to improve your overall speaking ability, I keep a list of useful and interesting conversation topics that we can go through to keep things fresh and expand your vocabulary in the language.
The lessons are your time, so I’m also happy to answer questions or work through anything else you have in mind, such as pages from your English book, conversations from film, or practice presentations. The goal is to help you where you need it.5.0
