I'm Esther, a native Beijinger. My students describe me as patient, fun (mostly hilarious) and serious when it comes to work. My background in linguistics and education equips me with the pedagogical tools and pertinent knowledge, my multicultural experiences includes residing in Europe and Southeast Asia as well as cross-cultural friendships in Beijing cultivate me with a nuanced understanding of different languages and intercultural communication, my extensive experience both as a language learner and instructor makes me understand the challenges students might face and provide valuable insights and strategies. Creating an interactive and engaging environment where students feel empowered and confident is what I strive for. Through personalized lesson plans, our class will be optimized to satisfy your individual learning styles and goals. By incorporating authentic materials, real-life scenarios, cultural activities and practical tasks into my lessons, I aim to foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Chinese language and its rich cultural heritage. Students are accepted at any level preferably above the age of 16.

Really enjoyable class. I was a bit unwell so we took a more relaxed approach but I still learned and practice quite a bit. Esther is great at adapting to the situation!

Just completed another great lesson with Esther. She is an amazing teacher that really pushes me to listen and speak mandarin as much as possible during our lesson. Though her English level is very high and she has no issue at all explaining anything in English, I love how she takes me out of my comfort zone so I can truly apply what I am learning. Highly recommended!
