I am an experienced English teacher with over 30 years of dedication to the classroom. I have a love for travel and my passion for education. Living in Cape Town, I continue to embrace diversity both inside and outside the classroom, drawing on the richness of cultures.
Teaching has always been more than a profession for me—it is a calling. I believe in the power of language to connect people, open doors, and foster understanding across borders. Hello, my name is Simmy, and I’m a certified TEFL teacher passionate about helping learners achieve confidence and fluency in English. I’ve worked with students from diverse backgrounds, adapting lessons to suit different learning styles and goals. My teaching focuses on practical communication, grammar, and expanding vocabulary so you can express yourself naturally in everyday and professional contexts. My lessons are based on the student's level. The lesson would include conversation and inform the student what the lesson is for the day. Students get immediate feedback from me as it is vital for their learning. Feeling at ease is key during the lesson. My strength is patience with my students and I promote never to give up. I follow an integrated planning which includes speaking, pronunciation, writing and vocabulary. The lessons are quite interactive and fun. Connecting with my students is vital because I plan according to their ability. TPR is the most important teaching style, especially for those who are beginners.
