I’m Miguel, your laid-back Dutch tutor with 6,000+ lessons under my belt—helping everyone from beginners to advanced speakers nail 'gezellige' conversations or ace exams like NT2 or the 'inburgeringsexamen'. So far, I’ve chatted with students from over 75 countries.
Born in Eindhoven, and trained in art (Royal Academy Den Haag) and Literature & Film theory (Leiden Uni), I can weave some culture into lessons. I also used to be a chef, but now I work as a scuba dive instructor in Koh Tao, Thailand.
So whether you’re a complete beginner, or prepping for your 'inburgering' or just want to talk about 'Koetjes & Kalfjes', I’ll make it fun and tailored.

I have learned that there are many ways to teach a language. But I believe that speaking is the best training, so I will focus on conversation, from the start.
For the beginners: have no fear! I am pretty laid-back and I can adjust my lessons to your level. You will feel comfortable trying to speak Dutch. Also, I have been living abroad long enough now, to have lost my 'Dutch directness' a bit and I get along quite well with people from different cultures.
For the advanced learners: I can make things difficult as well and challenge you as much as you like. Of course in a fun and interesting way. Phong cách dạy & bài học của tôi
Based on your interests and learning goals, I will customize your classes to your specific needs.
For the beginners classes, I have lots of Dutch textbooks in PDF, such as 'Nederlands in Gang' (A1/A2), 'Nederlands in Actie' (B1), or 'De Delftse Methode´. These books use different methods, so we can discuss which is best for you.
I can also train you for the different language state exams: Inburgeringsexamen (inburgering), NT2, EER, etc.
For the more advanced students, who want to practice conversation: We can address different topics, or debate on issues, or practice business Dutch. I am open to anything.

Today I have completed my 38th lesson with Miguel and couldn't be happier with my choice of teacher! Two more lessons and I'll complete 2 full packages with him :)
Miguel, thanks a lot for this journey we had in last 3 months! Thanks for tons of patience you had with me, you know I'm like a Dory from "Finding Nemo" :D
In 3 months from absolute zero level to somewhat A2 and I'm planning to continue! Lessons with Miguel are always fun, engaging and educating, not only on Dutch language itself, but also on Dutch culture!
