My name is Thomas, a multilingual teacher fluent in 11 languages—with German and Slovenian as my native tongues and with a lifelong passion for studying new ones (I’m currently learning 3). With 25 years of teaching experience (20 as an independent tutor), I specialize in structured, school-style lessons tailored to your goals. A scheduled lesson becomes part of my weekly plan and I get ready for it. I conduct a detailed journal of what we have been doing, thus it is easy for me to check the content of our previous sessions. I used to teach students in physical classrooms. In 2021 I started using Skype for my lessons (today it's Teams) and things work out very well. I am always punctual as I respect the time my students take for our lessons, likewise I do appreciate if my students do the same. My lessons can be conducted in any of the following languages: German Slovenian English French Swedish Danish Norwegian Italian Spanish Dutch Esperanto I try to conduct my lessons in a way that resembles the conventional school as much as possible. Meaning a thorough explanation of the grammar with several carefully tailored examples, exercises, homework, checking the student's progress, listening and reading comprehensions and once the student's knowledge progresses sufficiently, having a conversation.

For 16 years, I teach occitan and esperanto, volunteer or as employee in a language training center. I runned for 6 years online training, I regularly teach courses of all kinds. I do not have a university education, I learned as we say "on the job" but I'm very interested in pedagogy, I like to read, to explore and train myself on the subject, I like to experiment with new techniques and I always try to improve myself.

I've worked with adult learners of all levels, including professionals, university students, and language enthusiasts from many countries. I hold a teaching diploma from Alliance Française of Paris, and I'm currently completing a master's degree in language teaching methodology at the University of Grenoble Alpes — one of France's top-ranked universities. I'm also interested in cognitive science and enjoy using science-based strategies to support learning and memorization. In addition to French, I also teach Occitan, a Romance language spoken in the southern part of France, and Esperanto, an international language designed to be easy and fun to learn. I'm passionate about language learning myself, and I enjoy intercultural exchanges — each lesson is a chance to learn from each other. Teaching (and language learning) is who I am. In university, many of my friends were international students. I took pride in my ability to adapt my English to the appropriate level as they progressed. I was learning German, and this really helped me see things from their perspective. Now I am well-known in the Esperanto community - a regular teacher-in-residence at NASK and other events. In 1988 I became a tutor in a Free Esperanto Course (which I now administer), and when I left my IT career in 2016, I started teaching once a week at the local ESOL Association, as well as tutoring on line and in person. Teaching different languages in these situations has given me a unique perspective.
