Today I enjoyed a one-day trip by ferry with my eight-year-old daughter. We took a train and got off at a station to change trains, where we found the next train was being out of service due to an accident. I was a bit shocked because we would not be in time for the afternoon ferry we wanted to take. But she was not sad at all. In fact, she said in a happy mood, "Why not take an evening ferry and enjoy it? There's nothing at all that makes us unhappy. Let's enjoy whatever we experience!" It was full of bright lights and looked like a scene in a fairy tale. I felt super happy and thankful to my daughter because we could not have seen it if we had gone back home the moment we found our train out of service. After enjoying our round trip by ferry, we walked back to the station because the bus from the port looked very crowded. It was very nice to walk around there because it was neither too hot nor too cool and we were able to enjoy comfortable breezes from the sea. On our way to the station, we accidentally got into a shopping arcade, where we found a bunch of flying carps(carp-shaped windsocks celebrating Children's Day in Japan) hanging from the ceiling. She was excited to see them and started jumping and trying to touch them again and again. It made me super happy. I learned that a kid could be the best teacher when it comes to enjoying an unplanned travel.
