Today I enjoyed a one-day trip by ferry with my eight-year-old daughter. We took a train and got off at a station to change trains, where we found the next train was being out of service due to an accident. I was a bit shocked because we would not be in time for the afternoon ferry we wanted to take. But she was not sad at all. In fact, she said in a happy mood, "Why not take an evening ferry and enjoy it? There's nothing at all that makes us unhappy. Let's enjoy whatever we experience!" I really appreciated her having such a super positive mindset. I agreed to her opinion. So we were soon on our way to the destination by way of another railway line. After reaching the destination, a station about 20 minutes' walk from the ferry port, we enjoyed walking to the port and having tasty dishes at a restaurant there. We took the evening ferry and enjoyed our round trip to the port on the other side of the bay. I was super amazed to see an Italian luxurious ship on our way back. It was full of bright lights and looked like a scene in a fairy tale. I felt super happy and thankful to my daughter because we could not have seen it if we had gone back home the moment we found our train out of service. After enjoying our round trip by ferry, we walked back to the station because the bus from the port looked very crowded. It was very nice to walk around there because it was neither too hot nor too cool and we were able to enjoy comfortable breezes from the sea. On our way to the station, we accidentally got into a shopping arcade, where we found a bunch of flying carps(carp-shaped windsocks celebrating Children's Day in Japan) hanging from the ceiling. She was excited to see them and started jumping and trying to touch them again and again. It made me super happy. I learned that a kid could be the best teacher when it comes to enjoying an unplanned travel.

A Storytelling Competition Jone, the introverted bookworm, surprised even himself when he answered "yes" to the school's storytelling contest. But as competition day arrived, his palms turned into sweaty seas. One by one, competitors strutted their stories. Jone's turn loomed, each step to the stage a daunting climb. Under the spotlight, his mind went blank. Hours spent practicing, the memorized story, all vanished. Then, a spark. "Here goes nothing!" he muttered, and words began to flow. He wasn't just reading; he was the story, his voice weaving magic. The audience, initially quiet, leaned in, captivated by this shy boy who transformed into a real deal. His diligence paid off handsomely. “The end,” followed by thunderous applause. Jone bowed, stunned. Without a word, the judges awarded him the trophy. All the nervous sweat, the self-doubt, washed away in a wave of pure joy. Jone, the bookworm, had found his roar.

Dongguan has a rich historical heritage. Sea battle museum is one of them. It is a bridge connecting the past with the future. In this museum, many precious artifacts and documents are displayed. They tell the history of the Opium War. Our hero, Mr. Lin Zexu destroyed the opium and defended the attacks. He is well-known for his determination, courage and success. The museum is a remembrance of a suffering and humiliating period. When I walk in it, I feel the pain and misery. When I stare at Lin Zexu’s sculpture, I seem to see how he bravely protect our homeland. For a nation to be in control of its fate, its people must possess wisdom and courage to get rid of such corrupted thoughts to survive and thrive. In a word, sea battle museum is not only a treasure for Dongguan, but also a fortune for all humanity.
