Did you know the DELF can help you obtain French citizenship?
Many learners ask me:
“Which exam do I need to take for French naturalization?”
Good news:
The DELF is an official diploma issued by the French Ministry of Education, internationally recognized and valid for life.
It follows the CEFR levels and includes four independent diplomas: A1, A2, B1, and B2.
For French citizenship, the minimum required level is DELF B1.
Accepted diplomas include:
• DELF B1 (minimum level required)
• DELF B2
• DALF C1
• DALF C2
These certifications prove a level equal to or higher than B1, as required by French authorities.
The DELF/DALF is also ideal for:
• international recognition
• lifetime validity
• enhancing your academic or professional profile
• entering many French universities (B2 and C1 strongly recommended)
According to France Éducation International:
• The DELF B1 is accepted for French naturalization.
• The DELF B2 and DALF C1 facilitate admission to French-speaking universities.
