★☆Korean Words for Pharmacy #2★☆ ▶병 ▷n) an illness, a disease (병에 걸리다 = to fall ill) -앤 씨가 병에 걸려서 입원했어요. Ann was hospitalized because she fell ill. -병에 걸린 사람처럼 아팠어요. I didn’t feel well. I felt like a sick person. ▶붕대 ▷n) a sling -팔을 다쳐서 팔에 붕대를 감았어요. Since I injured my arm, it’s in a sling now. -넘어지고 나서 크게 다쳐서 팔에 붕대를 감았어요. I injured myself badly after falling, so my arm is in a sling now. ▶상처 ▷n) a wound (상처가 나다 = to be wounded) -아이가 넘어져서 얼굴에 상처가 났습니다. The child fell and was wounded in the face. -그 승마 선수는 말에서 떨어져서 허리를 크게 다쳤습니다. The equestrian fell off a horse and was badly wounded in the back. ▶안약 ▷n) eye drops -눈이 아프면 안약을 넣으세요 If your eyes hurt, put in eye drops. -편의점에서도 안약을 쉽게 구할 수 있어요. You can easily get eye drops at convenience stores. ▶약 ▷n) medicine -머리가 아픈데 약 좀 있어요? My head hurts. Do you have any medicine? -이별엔 약도 없다. There is no medicine to get over a breakup. ▶약국 ▷n) a pharmacy -저는 어제 약국에서 감기약을 샀습니다. Yesterday, I bought cough medicine at a pharmacy. -약국에서 일하려면 약에 대한 기본 지식이 있어야 돼요. You need to have basic knowledge of medicine if you want to work at a pharmacy. ▶약사 ▷n) a pharmacist -약사가 되려면, 약사 면허증이 있어야 해요. You need to be a licensed pharmacist if you want to work as a pharmacist. -만약 약사나 의사가 되려면 부모님이 부자인 것이 도움이 돼요. If you want to become a pharmacist or a doctor, it helps if your parents are rich.

★☆ Korean Words for Pharmacy #1 ★☆ ▶감기 ▷n) a cold -어제 창문을 열고 잠을 자서 감기에 걸린 것 같아요. I think I’ve caught a cold because I slept with the window open. -한국은 벌써 영하 1도까지 내려갔어요. 감기 조심하세요. South Korea already went down to minus 1 degrees Celsius. Be careful of catching a cold. ▶건강 ▷n) health (건강하다 = to be healthy) -돈보다 건강이 더 중요해요. Money is more important than health. -나이를 먹을수록 건강이 나빠지기 때문에 노인들은 병원 근처에서 살아야 한다고 한다. It’s said that the elderly should live around hospitals because their health deteriorates as they age. ▶끊다 ▷v) to quit, to give (a bad habit) -건강을 위해서 술과 담배를 끊으세요. You should quit smoking and drinking for your health. -술을 끊었더니 건강이 좋아졌어요. My health has improved because I stopped drinking. ▶넘어지다 ▷v) to fall -어제 계단에서 넘어져서 다리에 피가 났어요. My leg was bleeding yesterday because I fell down the stairs. -넘어져도 다시 일어나요. Get back up even if you fall down. ▶다치다 ▷v) to get hurt, to be injured -교통사고가 나서 많은 사람이 다쳤습니다. Many people were injured in a car accident. -이청용이라는 한국 선수는 EPL 파워랭킹 20위까지 올랐던 뛰어난 선수였는데 부상을 당하고 실력이 저하됐어요. The Korean football player Lee Chung Yong was good enough to rank 20th in the Premier League player Power Rankings, but his skills deteriorated after injury. ▶담배 ▷n) a cigarette -여기에서 담배를 피우면 안 돼요. You are not allowed to smoke here. -제가 담배를 안 피워서 담배 피우는 여자는 못 사귈 것 같아요. Only because I don’t smoke, I don’t think that I can date a woman who smokes ▶때문에 ▷adv) because of~ -감기 때문에 기침을 자주 해요. I cough a lot because of a cold. -일이 힘들기보다는 사람 때문에 스트레스받아요. I get stressed by people rather than work itself.

★☆ Korean Words for Lesson #6 ★☆ ▶제목 ▷n) a title -지금 읽고 있는 소설책 제목이 뭐예요? What’s the title of the novel you are reading now? -일본 영화 제목들은 좀 특이하고 이국적이에요. Japanese movie titles are somewhat unique and exotic. ▶졸다 ▷v) to doze off (졸음 = drowsiness) -너무 피곤해서 수업 시간에 졸았어요. I was so tired that I dozed off in class. -졸음운전은 정말 위험해요. Drowsy driving is really dangerous. ▶졸리다 ▷adj) to be sleepy -졸린 사람은 화장실에 가서 세수하고 오세요. If any of you are sleepy, go to the bathroom and wash your face. -밥을 먹고 나면 너무 졸려요. I get sleepy after eating a meal. ▶준비 ▷n) preparation (준비하다 = to prepare) -Ann 씨는 오늘 발표 준비로 바빠요. Ann is busy preparing her presentation today. -그는 아직 프로가 될 준비가 되어있지 않아요. He’s not ready to be a pro. ▶중 ▷n) 1. in the middle of~ 2. Among & between -수업 중에는 전화를 받으면 안 돼요. You are not allowed to answer your phone during class. -메시와 호날두 중 누가 더 좋으세요? Who do you like better, Messi or Ronaldo? ▶지각 ▷n) tardiness (지각하다 = to be late for the activity) -아침에 늦게 일어나서 수업에 늦게 일어났어요. I was late for class because I got up late in the morning. -지각에 대한 불이익이 있어요. There are penalties for being late for class. ▶찾다 ▷v) to find, to look up -사전에서 모르는 단어를 찾아봤어요. I tried to look up the words that I didn’t know in a dictionary. -길에서 지갑을 찾았어요. I found a wallet on the street.
