Why “I’ll ask her" sounds like "Alaska”? Try saying these out loud: "I'll ask her." "Alaska." Almost identical. Three syllables, stress on the middle one. This isn't a coincidence. In fast English, contractions and pronouns at the edges of a sentence — I'll, we've, he's, her, him — lose almost all their weight. The stressed word in the middle holds everything together. Four written words can sound like one. This is why fast English is hard to follow even when you know every word on paper. A few more examples: He's finished → sounds like ‘his finished’ They're hungry → sounds like ‘the hungry’ I’m coming → sounds like ‘am coming’ The fix: stop listening for individual words. Listen for the stressed syllable in the middle. 🎧 Audio below.

It's raining today. I have a part-time job in the afternoon. Yesterday, I had school early in the morning and had a part-time job until late at night, so I was very tired. So I used Uber for lunch and had a luxurious time. But now my stomach hurts a lot. I'm sad😿

Today, I spent most of the day relaxing at home. I stayed in bed for a while and took it easy. I watched videos, used my smartphone, and listened to music. I did not have any special plans, so I enjoyed a slow and peaceful day. Sometimes it is nice to rest and recharge after a busy week. Overall, I had a very relaxing day.

Today I was going to Osaka to see a 35.7 band live show, but I could not go, so I worked part-time job. My shift was in the afternoon, so it was not very busy. I wanted to go to the live show, but I was happy because I get some money from working.

#IELTS #Speaking 🚀 The "It Depends" Technique (The Balanced Approach) When an examiner asks you a general question, avoid giving a simple "Yes" or "No" answer. Instead, use the phrase "It depends" to explore the topic from two different perspectives. This strategy significantly boosts your scores in Fluency and Grammatical Range. Example: ❓ Question: Is it better to live in a big city or a small town? ❌ Average Answer (Band 5-6): "I think big cities are better because they have more jobs and shops. Small towns are too quiet and boring for me." ✅ High-Score Answer (Band 7.5+): 1️⃣ The Smart Start: "Well, honestly, I think it depends on a person's stage of life or their personality." 2️⃣ Perspective One: "On the one hand, for young professionals, a big city is ideal because of the career opportunities and the vibrant nightlife." 3️⃣ Perspective Two: "On the other hand, for retirees or people who prefer a peaceful lifestyle, a small town would be much more suitable due to the lower stress levels and cleaner air." ✨ Why is this a game-changer for your score? ✨ 1. Mastering Contrast: By using phrases like "On the one hand / On the other hand," you improve your Coherence and Cohesion score. 2. Easier Ideation: You no longer have to worry about which side is "correct." You discuss both, which gives you more time to speak and naturally increases your fluency. 3. Advanced Lexis: This structure allows you to naturally drop in high-level vocabulary like Ideal, Vibrant, Retirees, and Suitable. Fox Wedding? 🦊 Rain in the Sunshine ☀️☔ 日本は 梅雨(つゆ)のころでしょうか。私の住む イギリスでは、むしむし(humid) することは、あまり ありません。今日は、てんきに かんする 日本の ことばです。 きつねの よめいり (Kitsune no yomeiri) = Fox Wedding Today, I want to share a unique Japanese expression. In the UK, foxes are often seen as pests. But in Japan, they are actually considered sacred and magical animal, otten appear in the folktales. Have you ever seen it rain while the sun is shining? In Japan, we call this phenomenon "Kitsune no Yomeiri". Old Japanese folklore says that foxes hold their secret wedding processions during these sunshowers, using the magical rain to hide from human eyes. Here is a lovely children's book by Niimi Nankichi, 'Tebukuro o kaini'. So heartwarming ♡♡♡
