Giáo viên chuyên nghiệpIn Spanish, the verb tener is extremely common and it does NOT always translate directly as to have in English. It is used in many everyday situations:
✅ 1. Possession
Tengo un coche. → I have a car.
Ella tiene dos hermanos. → She has two siblings.
✅ 2. Feelings, sensations & states
Tengo hambre. → I am hungry.
Tenemos miedo. → We are afraid.
Tienen frío. → They are cold.
✅ 3. Age
¿Cuántos años tienes? → How old are you?
Tengo 30 años. → I am 30 years old.
📌 Important:
In Spanish, we use tener, not ser or estar, to talk about age and physical/emotional states.
