title: Volunteer Dear School Team, I saw you are hiring volunteers and I'm interested in becoming a volunteer to share some experiences of learning Chinese. Are you still accepting volunteers for this June to August (at least 2 weeks)? I am working at xx as a teaching assistant and have obtained the CELT-P (Certificate in English Language Teaching – Primary) qualification. I have also achieved safeguarding certification. I am passionate about education; I am currently teaching Mandarin on websites where most of my students are Westerners. Before this, I worked for a charity called Little Flower Projects. I was profoundly moved by the generosity of the co-founders, donors and volunteers, which inspired me to want to become a volunteer myself. I have a lot of time during school holidays, so I am eager to take on this work! Thank you for considering. I look forward to your reply. All best wishes, x

Curry Leaves: A Treasure Trove of Flavor and Healing in Sri Lankan Cuisine Curry leaves, known locally as karapincha, are a staple ingredient in Sri Lankan cooking, celebrated for their distinctive aroma and deep flavor. Their presence is so integral to local cuisine that it’s hard to imagine a traditional Sri Lankan dish without them. But the value of curry leaves extends far beyond taste—they are also revered for their remarkable health benefits. Native to South Asia, the curry leaf plant (Murraya koenigii) belongs to the Rutaceae family, commonly known as the citrus family. While widely used in Sri Lanka, these leaves are also found in India, Pakistan, China, Australia, and several African and North American regions. Nutritional Powerhouse Curry leaves are rich in flavonoids and dietary fiber, both of which contribute to heart health. Studies have shown that these compounds help regulate LDL (bad) cholesterol levels by reducing its absorption in the body—making curry leaves a natural remedy for those managing heart conditions. They are also a good source of iron, an essential mineral for maintaining healthy blood and preventing anemia. Additionally, curry leaves possess potent antioxidant properties, helping to detoxify the body and reduce oxidative stress. This makes them particularly beneficial for individuals with diabetes, as they assist in managing blood glucose levels. to be continued

In 1980s, topics about aliens were really hot. We could see different kinds of alliens in different shapes in many movies. They visited this blue planet by taking plate shpaed aircrafts. Some of them were kind, but others were rude and evil. Even some people in different places aroud the world said that they have seen alliens and been invited to visit the aircarfts. Everything around us became unearthly due to the thoughts about alliens. I once thought that I might be one of the alliens with many amazing powers. Then as we never saw any alliens, the passion about searching for extraterrestrial civilization slowly faded. But once the seed of curiosity was planted in our heart, our world has been changed. We hope aliens can help us solve all the crises which threaten us and punish the evildoers. So, when we feel tired about the world and life, we hope to be helped by an unknown force like aliens. At that moment, we believe aliens really exist. When we feel happy about the world, we think that we are the king of the world and we are more powerful than anything. However, everything can be changed. Many years later, when I saw the back of one-dollar bill, I was suprised to find that there was a pyramid with one eye on the top. I stared at the eye, the eye also stared at me. Maybe someone have actually found something.
