While Dad was helping me with my homework, the neighborhood plumber knocked on our door and told us our water meter was spinning like crazy—that meant there was a leak! What followed was a long, thorough search around the house. Dad almost gave up at one point, but he knew we had to resolve it. Luckily, he eventually spotted the check valve under our water tank when he noticed a faint noise coming from that area. We’d completely overlooked it earlier because the clear plastic pipe beneath it was so grimy you couldn’t even see water flowing through. Turned out, that valve was the culprit! Dad ran to the hardware store for a replacement and had it fixed in no time. Honestly, I think he can make a good plumber.
