Day 3 — The Two Ends of a Cantonese Day 早晨 zou2 san4 — good morning. Use it until roughly 11am, and use it for anyone: the neighbour, the security guard, your teacher. 早唞 zou2 tau2 — good night. You say it when someone is heading to bed. A small warning: 晚安 is written Chinese. Cantonese speakers almost never say it out loud — it sounds like a textbook. Question: it is 11pm and your flatmate is going to bed. 早晨 or 早唞? (Careful.)
